Physical Education and Health/Family Life Education (FLE)

The focus of Physical Education and Health/Family Life Education shifts from building a foundation to utilizing prior knowledge and experience in a variety of areas. Students will assess their health-related fitness status and set reasonable and appropriate goals for development and improvement. Cooperative and competitive games focus on developing fundamental skills and strategy. These skills continue to be developed and learned but the focus is now exposing students to an array of content areas. This broad exposure and exploration with movement and activity will hopefully foster an interest in lifetime and health enhancing fitness. All grade levels will also incorporate a variety of technology to assess and improve skill performance and fitness levels. Students assess their health-related fitness status and set reasonable and appropriate goals for development and improvement. All Henderson PE students will demonstrate supportive behaviors that promote the inclusion and safety of others when participating in physical activity.

The Falls Church City Schools Family Life Education (FLE) Program is designed to meet the desires of the Falls Church community regarding the appropriate content and sequencing of Family Life instruction for students in grades K-10.  All grade level instruction promotes abstinence and the benefits of postponing premarital sexual activity. Parents have the option of removing their children from any or all portions of the FLE component of the Health section.
